As I’m sitting here in the sunshine it makes me realise that Summer’s around the corner and lots of women across the UK will be preparing to run the Race for Life. Training for such an event gives us the motivation we need to be more active and there’s nothing better to motivate us to lose those winter pounds and get fit.
My daughter (Cat) and myself have just achieved the 5km (3 mile) race. I did it in 31 minutes 58 seconds and Cat in 29 minutes 10 seconds - well she is only 14! We feel very pleased with ourselves and looking forward to our next fun run which is next Sunday. Next weeks is only 2km, but it is uphill all the way. The main reason for me to do these races is to burn calories fast. With a run you can burn many more calories in a short time. I like the short and fast routes to anything. So in the 31 minutes I was able to burn 300 calories. (That's 2 digestive biscuits!).
